Parturition

The Stages of Labor Okay, so now that we know the general method the uterus uses to accomplish parturition (that would be those contractions we just talked about), let's talk about the stages of the labor process. There are three of these stages:  The dilation stage: this begins when true labor starts.  The expulsion stage, which ends in parturition, or the birth of the baby.  The placental stage, which, as you may be able to guess, is the expulsion of the placenta from the uterus.  Sounds pretty simple right? So, now that you know the general process of labor, let's look at each stage in a little more detail.  The Dilation Stage First up: the dilation stage. The key player in this stage is the cervix. That's this part right here:  The cervix is outlined in red.  You may notice that the head of the baby is quite large compared to the tiny opening of the cervix. That's because this cervix hasn't dilated yet.  Cervical dilation  is the opening ...

Kidney structure and function

Kidney structure and function:- Kidneys are complex organs, they are important for maintaining normal body functions. The most important function is excretion. It is the process by which unwanted, metabolic wastes are eliminated. During metabolism a lot of waste materials, residues of food, heavy metals and toxic substances are also present. All these should be eliminated either by the digestive system, lungs, skin, liver, and various systems are involved in excretion but their capacity is limited. The Renal system is having maximum excretory function capacity. A Human being's survival rests on function and process done by the kidneys. The kidneys are a pair of bean-shaped organs present in all vertebrates. They remove waste products, maintain electrolyte balance and regulate blood pressure. So these are the most important organs in the body.  In this article, we look at the structure and function of the kidneys, and their physiology. Anatomy of Kidney Kidneys are re...

Cerebrum Human anatomy and physiology

Cerebrum anatomy and physiology:- The cerebrum of the central nervous system is the upper most part of the brain. It is composed of basal ganglia, cerebral cortex and olfactory cortex. The cerebrum is divided into left and right hemispheres on either side of central fissures; the cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and handles the conscious thought and action area of the brain. The cerebrum consists of the cerebral hemisphere and accounts for two thirds of the total weight of the brain. The hemisphere interprets visual and spatial information; it consists of the inner core of myelinated nerve fibres. The human cortex is several centimetres thick and has a surface area about 2000 square cm. Anatomy of Cerebrum Cerebrum is the largest and most developed portion of the human brain it was located in the upper most part of the brain the cerebrum may divided into two hemisphere they were cerebral cortices which was the outer layer. The two hemisphere were C shaped and then separat...
